0 Down, 30 To Go

In exactly two weeks, I will turn  28.  That's almost 30.  It got me thinking about all that I have done in my life, and all that I haven't.  Over the next two years and two weeks, I hope to accomplish these thirty tasks.  It's not that I'm not proud of where I am now - I've graduated from college, bought my own place (and a real, non-hand-me-down couch), I've been in love, I've learned to manage my crazy, I've lived in Europe, I've zip-lined and rock climbed and snow-shoed.  I've been to Hawaii.  I got into nursing school... But there's alot I haven't done.  Thanks to my friend Rob, and his awesome 30x30 list, I've started my own.  So, without further adieu, here's the list:

  1. Bring my credit card debt to zero
  2. Put "RN" after my name
  3. Go to Nashville, Graceland and a rodeo
  4. Learn to change a flat tire
  5. Go parasailing
  6. Go skydiving
  7. Run a 10K
  8. Do 100 pushups
  9. Go to a country I've never been to March 4, 2010
  10. Go scuba diving
  11. Go blonde
  12. Keep a plant alive for six months
  13. Go snowboarding
  14. Take surfing lessons
  15. See AFI's top 100 movies
  16. Paint or draw something to hang in my place
  17. Get a pet March 14, 2010
  18. Ride 100 miles on my bike
  19. Play 18 holes of golf
  20. Do something I'm terrified of  March 2, 2010
  21. Buy myself an amazing piece of jewelery
  22. Take a cross-country road trip
  23. Host a fancy-pants dinner party
  24. Read 10 classic novels
  25. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge
  26. Scan and organize my family's photos
  27. Give blood
  28. Spend a full day volunteering

    2. Now you're making me brainstorm for 30. :) How about go see the Northern Lights in Alaska (even though you supposedly can see them further south - I never have). Or go have a vacation in Alaska where the sun shines 24/7. Or take a working vacation (i.e. where you go learn how to make wine). Buy an original piece of art for your home.

    4. I can't go vegan.. Hello.. cheese! Liz, meet Samantha who commented above you.. she's got a great vegan cooking blog. http://www.noveleats.com/

Samantha - I'll need to accomplish #1 before any of the super expensive things you've listed! But great ideas!

    5. I think I can help with #29 when I come up to NY in a few weeks. I'm one of the few that has survived a car ride with you and is willing to do it again. #4 can be thrown in there too.

Also, #6, just not in a few weeks.

      Love ya, dear.

    6. Haha - I was going to suggest vegan, then I was like, yeah Christine's not really going to be too interested in that. Maybe for a day though? It could be 1/2 or 1/4 of #30? :)

    7. Oh and good point on the credit card thing. Now I'm going to have to come up with some inexpensive stuff!

    8. I saw the Northern Lights when I was in Boston. I'm sure they would be more amazing farther north but they were pretty astounding as it was. As for being vegan, I wasn't able to accomplish it until I started eating all raw food.

    9. Suggestions for #30: shoot a gun, take a dance lesson (tango/ballroom/swing/salsa), join a club, participate in a flash mob event (ex. Improv Everywhere or Zombie Crawl NYC), take a watercolor lesson, take a self-defense class, take a cooking class, visit all the NY art museums over a weekend, have lunch at Central Park, go to either of the NY Botanical Gardens (they have a pretty insane orchid show going on right now)

    10. You should add "trapeze class" to your list. I think they do that at the pier in NYC.
